Last week on August 31st, over 170 enthusiastic supporters of Wretched of the Earth (WOTE) gathered for a BBQ party and workshops at Wolves Lane!
Workshops, singing, yoga, art, BBQing, cooking and feasting ensued! WOTE provided child care and BSL signers for those would need it, and lunch for all participants.
Chef Stuart with the Wolves Lane cafe team and volunteers from Edible London created delicious Caribbean-themed vegetarian appetisers and entrees that were enjoyed by all!
Who are WOTE?
Wretched of the Earth “is a grassroots collective for Indigenous, black, brown and diaspora groups and individuals demanding climate justice and acting in solidarity with our communities, both here in the UK and in Global South”
It is a 100% volunteer-run collective, “striving to model the world we would like to see, one that forefronts the experiences and dreams of people hit hard by colonialism, capitalism and sexism, and understands the importance of community and solidarity as the foundations of a long lasting movement for climate justice.”
