FREE workshop: Food Growing with Numbers! Sun Mar 19th, 2:30~4:30pm

Black Rootz is offering a free workshop!

.

“Black Rootz is excited to invite you to our upcoming workshop on Food Growing with Numbers!

We will be offering a free 2-hour workshop on learning the key parts of sowing seeds and making compost mixes using maths skills, and we will be showing the group how maths is an integral – and exciting – part of successfully growing food.

By the end of our session, you’ll be able to carry out basic food growing tasks using mathematical estimates. You’ll also be able to sow seeds at the correct depth, mix compost using the right ratios, and understand how we use different sized beds for different purposes.

We will be offering light refreshments and a tour of our amazing space at Wolves Lane Community Growing Centre too!

The structure of the workshop will be:

  1. Welcome and introductions
  2. Tour of Wolves Lane
  3. Compost mixing / seed sowing / thinning out plants using maths
  4. Refreshments and short worksheets
  5. Feedback
  6. Stay behind for our Seed Swap afterwards!

This workshop is provided in partnership with Haringey Learns and is supported by the Mayor of London.

Please note, to be eligible for this workshop you must:

  • Be below Level 2 in Maths. This means that if you have a GCSE Maths, Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths or similar, you are unfortunately not eligible
  • Be living in the borough of Haringey (although some limited flexibility is possible if learners are from other London boroughs)
  • Be over the age of 19
