London Grown Minimarket Report: Another rousing success!

Despite off again on again showers, once again more than 70 people visited London Grown’s Minimarket this past Saturday July 29th!

London Grown was joined by:

Each group had a stall and the stalls were loaded with interesting plants and tasty treats on offer including:

  • seedlings
  • begonias
  • geraniums in all colours
  • spider plants
  • aloe vera
  • canna plants
  • marrow, beetroot, beans and more
  • cacti
  • banana bread
  • chocolate chip cupcakes
  • gluten free banana spice bread
  • Stewart’s Jerk Chicken and Jerk Sausage BBQ!
  • and more…

The weather was perfect – well, showers with sun in between, so perfect in our books! Holly put up a canvas gazebo and immediately created a party atmosphere for all!

Community Gardening Session at Wolves Lane – Tomorrow!

All the tomatoes are in and the salad bed is nearly ready for planting!

This coming Tuesday 6 June

the LONDON GROWN community gardening session will be at the Wolves Lane centre, N22

11am-4pm (lunch 1-2pm)

Please bring lunch if possible and clothes to garden in. Tea & biscuits provided.

All welcome – no experience required!

Please pass info to friends!

London Grown Plant Sale Report: A Success!

Over 70 people visited the first London Grown Plant Sale this past Saturday May 27th!

London Grown was joined by:

  • Highway Gardening Club, Bruce Grove Youth Centre
  • Organic Lea (including Stewart’s Jerk Chicken and Jerk Red Bream BBQ!)
  • Go Grow of go-grow.org.uk and
  • Friends of Wolves Lane

Each group had a stall and the stalls were loaded with interesting plants and tasty treats on offer including:

  • begonias
  • geraniums in all colours
  • spider plants
  • aloe vera
  • canna plants
  • cacti
  • healthy yacon
  • banana bread
  • chocolate chip cookies

A campaign group is trying to declare London the world’s first National Park City!

Please declare your support for this important project.

The campaign has been widely publicised in TimeOut, the Guardian, and other major news outlets, and they are holding a major event at the Southbank Centre in September including inspiring and provocative talks.

Please share this event, The Making of a National Park City, around your networks.

And then be inspired at an evening of entertaining performances and provocative thinking! This landmark event explores what a National Park City is, what this means for London, and how our capital can soon become the world’s first.

Hosted by comedian Josie Long, speakers include designer Wayne Hemingway, campaigner Fiona Reynolds, firefighter Simon Jakeman, as well as the Bollywood Brass Band, artists and poets.

Come along and see how a simple idea can help transform one of the world’s greatest cities.
